When I tell people my last name is "Berry," they act like it's the most inscrutable word they've ever encountered. "Bury? Barry? Barre? Beri? Is that with an 'o'? " So I introduce myself as "Julie Berry, like the fruit."

I write humor columns for the MetroWest Daily News, a Community Newspaper Corporation publication and sister to the Boston Herald. I live in Eastern Massachusetts -- west of Boston and east of the Mississippi.
